What you wrote reminds me of how snipers are taught to shoot... Posture is important, the way you hold the camera, and it is important to gently push the shutter/trigger vs smashing on it. Maybe I should write an article about this, what do you think? :)</description>

Regarding your question, if you follow these simple tips I doubt you will have problems getting pixel sharp photos. But if you followed through, and still cannot get satisfactory results, maybe you should consider upgrading camera and lens. I find full frame cameras such as canon 5D mk II to be much sharper when viewed at 100% compared to crop bodies such as 50D for example.
