Sony camera dock takes photos on its own!
Sony unveiled the Party-shot camera dock, an innovative accessory that eliminates the need for a photographer.
Party-shot dock can circle 360 degrees and tilt the camera up to 24 degrees, following guests via face detection embedded in Sony cameras. Instead of pushing the button yourself, the dock shoots photos on its own when it determines the right moment. Sounds easy? It’s hard even for a human photographer to judge the right moment; now think how difficult this is electronically, nevertheless Sony is sure in success.
“With the Party-shot personal photographer, you no longer have to worry about taking photos when you are with your family or friends. Party-shot captures candid moments that tell natural life stories and also offers a new style of photography that enriches time with your family and friends.” said Shigehiko Nakayama, product manager at Sony Electronics.
I can see how this new invention can be a major threat to photographers in the future. People who are paid to document weddings, business meetings, and parties will find themselves competing with this little device. It’s kind of unfair though – camera manufacturers made millions of dollars profit in the pro market, selling expensive gear, and now they want to ditch us by making a camera that shoots itself! (Southpark: “they took our jobs!”).
But all is not lost yet – Sony dock may rotate 360 degrees, but it still lacks major features to make human photographer obsolete. Well, until programmers come up with mathematical formula for creativity at least, we have nothing to worry about.
