Cheverny Castle
The Château de Cheverny is located at Cheverny, in the département of Loir-et-Cher in the Loire Valley in France.
Chateau is open to the public since 1914. The family still operates it, and Château Cheverny remains a top tourist attraction to this day, renowned for magnificent interiors and its collection of furniture, tapestries, and objets d’art.
Castle Interior Photos
From the outside all the castles in the Loire Valley look impressive, but the thing is that they are mostly empty inside. Problem is that they are huge, and not too many pieces of furniture have been saved or recovered. Cheverny is a different story, It’s a modern castle built relatively late. It’s full of luxurious furniture and decorations.
Amusement Center for Kids
“The Marlinspike Hall Secrets” – is a comic strip art exhibition held at Cheverny.
The Belgian comic book artist Herge created Titin (cartoon character you see on the photos) in 1929 and became one of the leading comic strip artists in the world. There is an important connection between this cartoon and a Chateau – Herge used Cheverny as a model for Marlinspike Hall.
The exhibition primarily created for kids is impressive, with amazing visual and sound effects.
Cheverny Hunting Dogs
A pack of some seventy dogs are kept on the grounds and are taken out for hunts twice weekly.
They look pretty cute on the photo, but imagine the stink I had to stand to take this shot
100 dogs isn’t a joke… especially when they do toilet together ![]()
Cheverny Garden
Castle has a huge garden, and equally amazing patch of forest that includes a little river. It’s possible to take a trip, through the forest with the golf cart, and a little boat trip on the river. Even though the water has the color of mud, the boat scene is still entertaining.
